Sewer Lateral

San Antonio owners are responsible for the sewer lateral past the property line to the SAWS main; SAWS reimburses only the plumber locate charge, not the repair.

Call a licensed plumber to televise your line (inspect it with a video camera) and clear any blockage on your side of the main.

Sidewalk Repair

San Antonio: the owner pays, but a rebate covers 50-70% of the cost depending on the neighborhood.

By City ordinance, property owners are responsible for repairing and maintaining sidewalks adjoining their property, including keeping them safe and in good condition.

Tree Roots

San Antonio puts the tree strip on the owner: the code makes the abutting owner keep the sidewalk, parkway, curb and driveway free from defects. The City's Sidewalk Rebate Program pays back 50 to 70 percent of the repair cost, up to $3,000, while funds last.

It shall be the duty of any property owner, or person, firm or corporation making special use of any sidewalk, curb, parkway or driveway ... to keep the sidewalks, parkway, curb and driveway abutting said property in a good and safe condition and free from any defects and hazards.

Water Service Line

San Antonio: split at the meter, SAWS owns main-to-meter, and the owner owns "the customer-owned service line from the water meter to the building."

This includes both the SAWS-owned water lateral from the water main to the water meter as well as the customer-owned service line from the water meter to the building.
