In Las Vegas, the abutting property owner must maintain and repair the public sidewalk fronting their lot, and if they don’t, the City repairs it and liens the property for the cost.

**Boundary:** The abutting property owner is responsible for maintaining and repairing the existing public sidewalk fronting their property (LVMC 13.56.040). The City owns the right-of-way but shifts the repair duty to the abutter; unremedied work is done by Public Works and assessed as a lien on the property (13.56.100).

**Property owner:** Maintain and repair the existing public sidewalk abutting the property whenever necessary to public health, safety and welfare.

**City / agency:** The City may perform the repair if the owner fails, then bill the owner and, on non-payment within 30 days, assess a lien against the property.
