# Tree Fell on Your House? Insurance Covers It | Who Pays the Repair?

> Your own homeowners policy covers tree-fall damage to your home, no matter who owned the tree.

**Who pays:** insurer

If a tree falls on your house, your own homeowners policy covers the damage, no matter who owned the tree.

**Boundary:** If a tree, regardless of who owns it, falls on an insured structure, the homeowner's own standard policy covers the structural and contents damage; debris removal alone (no structural hit) is generally not covered.

**Exceptions:** If the tree lands in the yard without hitting an insured structure, debris removal is generally not covered.
