# Embed the Who-Pays Database on Your Site, Free

> A copy-paste widget that lets your readers look up who pays for sidewalk, sewer, water-line and tree-root repairs: 365 verified records across 100 US cities, plus state and national rules. Free for bloggers, agents, HOAs, and city sites, with attribution.

Updated: 2026-10-23. Source: Who Pays the Repair? — https://whopaystherepair.com/guides/embed-the-database/ (claims cited to primary sources; see /methodology/).

If you run a real estate site, a home inspection blog, an HOA page, a local news site, or a city resource page, your readers ask the who-pays question constantly. You can now answer it with our verified database, on your own page, with one copy-paste.

## The widget

It is a small search box: your reader types their city, and gets the verified verdict (owner pays, city pays, or it depends), the one-line explanation, and a link to the full sourced record. It covers every city in our database and updates automatically as we add more, you never have to touch it again.

## The code

 iframe src='https://whopaystherepair.com/embed/'
 style='width:100%;max-width:560px;height:420px;border:0'
 title='Who pays for the repair? City lookup'
 loading='lazy' /iframe

Paste that anywhere HTML is allowed. That is the entire integration.

## The terms, in plain words

- Free. No account, no key, no cost.

- Attribution stays. The widget carries a small credit link to this site. Leave it intact and you are fully licensed; strip it and you are not.

- The data is ours to maintain. Verdicts come from each city's own code or official pages, and our correction policy means errors get fixed at the source, which means they get fixed in your embed too, automatically.

## Prefer raw data?

The full dataset is also published as machine-readable JSON at [/data.json](/data.json): 365 records (100 cities plus state-level and national rules, count as of 23 October 2026) with verdicts, exceptions, verification dates, and the primary-source URL for every record. Same license: free with attribution and a link. If you build something with it, we would genuinely like to see it.

Questions, corrections, or a city you want added: see [our methodology](/methodology/) for how records get made, or start at [the complete city guide](/guides/complete-city-guide/).
